Ans. The information about Shah Latif’s early life is mostly collected through the oral traditions. Most of this information is compiled by a Pakistani scholar Mirza Kalich Beg.
Mirza Kalich Beg gathered this information from some old people who had heard this information from their fathers or grandfathers.
b) Why is Shah Latif called the ‘Saint of Bhit’?
In 1742, Shah Latif left his home and went to live on a mound at some distance from his village. A mound of sand is called Bhit' in Sindhi. Due to the fact that he lived on this mound for the rest of his life, Shah Latif came to be known as 'the Saint of Bhit. To this day, he is famous all over the country as Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai or Shah Latif of the Mound.

Latif’s poetic nature loved the calm atmosphere near the lake. Therefore, he spend much of his time sitting on the bank of the lake praying to God and sometimes composing verses in His praise.

Shah Abdul Latif died in 1165 Hijra. He was buried on the "Mound" where he had lived.
